I would check with your doctor and see if he can put you on a medicine such as immatrex or zomig. They do help stop migraines especially if you can take a pill before one comes along. Also, certain foods can trigger migraines. If you go to the zomig web site, you can find a chart with certain foods that are migraine triggers in some people. (this helped me BIG TIME!) You may be able to eat some of the things on the list, but by eliminating some of these food, you may feel better. Also, exercise has helped me regain some energy, and I think has helped in having them less often.
But definitely go to the Doctor. I am happy I did. It has been a bit of a lifestyle change, but it's alot better than having migraines all of the time!

I used get migranes all of the time. Other than medicines (ibuprofen is bad, but advil works alright) I would say to go to sleep. Do you drink diet soda? I used to constantly drink it and constantly get migranes. I stopped drinking it and began to drink water instead. Now I only get migranes when I'm stressed out. Drink water when you get a migrane, and eat something so you don't get the upset stomach that comes with it. Good Luck with you migranes. I know they suck.

Have never found a cure myself, in all these years, but feel that once the symptoms have started, I have to just wait until its all over and done with. I have found that a lot of my problem has been hormonal, and have suffered dreadfully with migraine throughout the menopause. I wouldn't take most of the prescribed medecines from GP because the side effects were as bad as the migraine! Good luck with it all - I know how miserable it is.

I stumbled onto an accidental cure, not a treatment, but a cure to my migraines. I once had migraines so intense that I needed bed rest and I was ordered not to drive by my optometrist. In the meantime, decided to remove rice, potatoes, processed flour and sugar from my diet and, low and behold, my migraines vanished. The reason I removed these things was it was part of the Atkins diet. I wanted to do this diet to lose weight. It improved my health so much that I really didin't care if I lost weight or not. Don't give up red meat, it is good for you. Don't reduce your protein, that is what your body is made from. Get rid of sugar and quit worshiping this highly glorified poison.

I see a chiropractor every 6 weeks. She only uses the activator on me and I've seen a huge difference.
When I get a migraine, I can (fortunately) use Excedrin Migraine (OTC). Sometimes the migraine is gone in 5 minutes. Sometimes 30-45 minutes.
I sit in complete darkness (we even have to unplug alarm clocks and night-lights). I sometimes lay with my head and neck curved upside down off the edge of the bed (I have very tight neck and shoulder muscles that also contribute to my migraines) with an ice pack under my neck.
Everyone (docs) say don't use ice, but when I use heat, it just gets worse! If heat makes it worse, try ice. It totally helps me. If the migraine is not in the back of my neck/head, it's above my eyes. So I put the ice pack on my forehead.
If you wanna try to use an ice pack, buy the cloth/fabric one because they are more pliable for use on the body than hard ones. Wrap in a soft cloth hand towel or wash cloth so that you don't get frostbite on your skin.

Two approaches:
Firstly migraines are often associated with diet so have a good look at what you are eating - keep a diet diary to see if you can link a particular food with a migraine attack.
Secondly, have you tried the herb Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) which has good results in clinical trials?

Go see your GP and ask if you can be prescribed Naramig. It will stop a migraine in its tracks if taken within an hour of symptoms appearing
