the term "accelerated filers" means? It seems like some sort of category based on company size. Is that what it is? What does accelerated mean? Why are there "accelerated filers"? Are there "regular" filers?

Accelerated files, generally, are U.S. companies that have equity market capitalization over $75 million and have filed an annual report with the Securities and Exchange Commission. And, yes, there are regular, better known as non-accelerated filers.

Public companies that meet the definition of an accelerated filer were required to comply with the internal control reporting requirements of Sarbanes Oxley as of the end of its first fiscal year ending after November 15, 2004. Public companies that were not accelerated filers, including foreign private issuers, began to comply with the annual internal control report for its first fiscal year ending on or after July 15, 2006.
