well i am 14 and i started my period when i was 13. i started taking birth control, because my mom suggested it since i have been going out with my boyfriend for a year. that regulated it quite a bit. it also makes it lighter and not last as long. the pill benefits in many different ways, not just to keep from getting pregnant.hope i helped and good luck=]
