I am looking for a good comedy. I like dry humor (like spinal tap), dark (the darker the better), silly (monty python), smart, or just funny. Any comedies that you love? List your top five movies and what they are about if you could. Thanks.

It sounds like you are looking for comedies, so allow me to suggest a couple classics and a couple obscure ones...

A Fish Called Wanda - Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline
- since you are a Monty Python fan, you might like that some of the cast came together for this film about criminals of varying intelligence.

Little Miss Sunshine - Alan Arkin, Greg Kinnear
- doesn't get much funnier than this road trip that takes a dysfunctional family to a child beauty pageant

Better Off Dead - John Cusack
- classic 80s teen ski comedy that has been largely forgotten but stands up as the best of its genre

Fletch - Chevy Chase, Tim Matheson
- private detective - yes, for a brief period in the 1980s, Chevy Chase was actually quite funny

Swingers - Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughan
- picking up women and getting over ex-girlfriends, the handbook for both, you're money and you don't even know it

Clerks
- the movie that started it all for Kevin Smith.
- follow it up with Chasing Amy (Ben Affleck, Jason Lee)

I either go to the movies or wait till the movie comes out on DVD, I stop renting a long time ago.

American Beauty, The Royal Tenenbaums (or anything by Wes Anderson), May, and Adaptation.
Look them up on imdb.com
You can see what they are about and how well they did.
