Yes they do. It is more common overseas than it is here in the States. Some of them are very good at it. It depends on the type of dancing they are doing as to whether or not it is different from what women do. The costumes are definatley different. Usually the style tends to be a bit more folkloric than cabaret, though I have seen some men who do cabaret very well, undulations, shimmies, hip rolls and all. I will actually be taking a workshop next month with one of the premier male dancers and teachers of Egyptian folkloric style dancing. Jade is right, shira.net is a great source of bellydance information. Hope this is helpful

I've been around an organization called the Society for Creative Anachronism (link below) since 1976, and what originally attracted me was historical dance. While the SCA is involved in the re-creation of all pre-17th century culture, and that includes the crusades and all the cultures encountered during the crusades, bellydance will be found in the SCA, although it tends to be more tribal than cabaret.
[Personally, I'm more into medieval and renaissance court and peasant danse... but your question wasn't about my field of greater interest.]
Periodically, local SCA groups hold events of different kinds, some of which are tournaments, some of which are feasts. My local group tends to throw well attended feasts and we get visitors from other groups that travel several hours to our city to attend.
On more than one occasion I have seen at these feasts some very good bellydancing performances by men, by women, and by men and women simultaneously.
Yes, there are guys who do bellydance, and do it quite well.
Since I took a class years ago where I learned that the history of the development of belly dancing came from developing a series of exercises for pregnant women, I am going to assume that Men's reasons for taking up bellydance have nothing to do with pregnancy, and are for artistic endeavors only.
The men I have seen perform were married, and were performing for, in front of, or with their wives.

Yep a lot of the guys I've met here know how to "bellydance," albeit not at a professional level. And they know how to make really good music just from hitting their hands on a table. I wish the guys in my country could do all that...
It's pretty much the same as what girls do, but it looks different and of course more masculine.
They learn it by exposure, at weddings, circumcisions... like club dancing for us maybe.

Some guys do, yes. In America, it's uncommon, but in the countries bellydancing came from it's not all that rare. Bellydancing is harder for men most of the time, since having wider hips makes the moves easier and look better, but otherwise the moves are similar, from what I understand. You should be able to find information about male bellydancers on big bellydancing sites, like shira.net

nicely, adult males dancing isn't so wierd... you do no longer think of us ladies are going to bop by technique of ourselves whether that is in user-friendly terms bellydancing? I ensue to love abdomen dancing and that i'm very happy with what i understand (yet i does not do it in front of all and sundry different than a classification, in basic terms because of the fact i'm inhibited). If I have been a guy and that i had that means, i might decide to coach it off to boot. i might provide him the quantity, till ofcourse your cousin needs no longer something to do with him. i stumble on it slightly out of the commonplace, yet having reported that what injury may be able to come from a quantity being exchanged? ok, worst case concern, the two the tummy dancing chum and your cousin run off jointly and dance their little booties off and doubtless go gay. yet I doubt which will ensue. in case you do no longer provide up the quantity how disillusioned might your chum be? nicely, this is in basic terms my opinion, in the tip that is all as much as you, pal! wish issues go nicely for you! ~Cheers!
