We were going to buy a bassinet to put by our bed and have the baby sleep in it for the first few months, but then we thought it is almost cheaper and more functional to buy one of those pack and plays that comes with the bassinet attached in it. Is it okay to have my baby sleep in one of those for the first few months?

YES! My son slept in the pack and play till he was 5 months old and my daughter (2 months) is in it now. It is also more convinent when you are going on a trip... you can take it with you!

Thats exactly what I did. It works awesome! Much cheaper and less baby stuff sitting around. Both of our girls used the bassinet part until they were about 4 months old. Then they(well one still is) can use the playpen for day to day use. And those things are so easy to pack and carry elsewhere!! I love pack and plays!!

My friend did it and she did fine in it. I had a bassinet and I loved it ( I got it at walmart for 50) The pack and plays that have it built in are usually 70 + but they can come in handy later for trips. My sis in law and my friend let their sons sleep in theirs instead of a bed ( one is 3 months one is 14 months) The doc told my sis in law do not do that because he kept getting colds and they switched him to a reg baby bed and he is fine now. Although my other friend never had any problems... I would not suggest using it after they get to big for the bassinet attachment unless it is a short time sleeping arrangement. It is up to you and both are fine

That is what I am going to do. I already set up on the side of the bed. It's a Graco pack n play. I had a bassinet with my 1st son and he outgrew it quick, with this it will last alot longer and be in use most of the time and since it is portable I love it even more. Good luck and congrats. 4 wks and 3 days til induction or C-section.. woo hoo!!

We bought a co-sleeper that we used in our room. And we bought the Pack n Play for downstairs. My son (5 months old) is sleeping in the bassinet of the pack n play at this very moment. If you have 2 floors to your house then I would recommend something for downstairs so that you have a safe place to put baby when you need to set him down.

for the co-sleeper (we have the mini one)

I think it's a great idea. I had a bassinet, but wish i would have thought of that. That way you save more money and you have an area for the baby to play and not have to worry so much. Congrats!

My sister had the two and used the two, yet i think of it replaced into pointless because of the fact the toddler can in basic terms be in one at a time, so %. which you will like and merely get that. the effective ingredient with regard to the %. in play with the bassinet is while toddler is out of the bassinet you have a playpen. in my view, i would be utilising a Moses basket and merely putting it on my mattress (unmarried mom, king length mattress, one edge against the wall) regularly because of the fact i'm hurting for area the place i'm residing.

I would go with the pack n' play. It is fine for your little on to sleep in the bassinet part.

I have both...I have a Pack and Play upstairs in the living room, and a bassinet in my room. My daughter actually prefers sleeping in the P&P to her bassinet.

yes its ok to let the baby sleep in the pack&play bassinet i have read many good reviews about them online from people who have done that however most of the bassinets on them only hold up to15 lbs and the play pin holds up to 30lbs

I agree with you about the economical benefits of just using a pack-n-play instead of buying both p-n-p and a bassinett. There is nothing wrong with having your baby in the pack-n-play basinette attachment. I used it with my son for the first three months of his life. Not only is it more economical; but the pack-n-play offers more space than the bassinett; which to me would make it feel less closterphobic for your baby. My son loves it and it worked out perfectly for us. Plus, when your baby moves into the crib, what are you going to do with the bassinette? The pack-n-play offers much more uses beyond three months of age; the bassinett doesn't.
