I am having trouble on a file I am trying to work on. And I need to recompile it to complete it. :(

Impossible to answer without more information. The .dat extension usually refers to some kind of data file. The problem is that many different programs use the .dat extension for data files that are in many different formats.

Heck, If You Are Talking About The Registary In 9X/ME YOu're Screwed... If YOu Are TAlking About A VCD File, You're Also Screwed, If You Are Talking About A Binary/Program File, Run It Though A Few Compilers (.NET,C,C++,C#,Assebbly,Pascal,ect...) That Should Work..

.dat is a movie extension which auto play in VCD or DVD or CD-Rom ... u dont need to recompile it ... only select any .avi or mpeg or anyother format ... and just burn it to CD ...it will automatically convert into .dat file ..done bye
