The only success I have ever had removing Sharpie is:
1. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. (follow directions on the box!)
2. If Mr. Clean CAN'T do it, then use alcohol. BUT BE CAREFUL! Spot test the toy to make sure it won't rub off the paint or finish.
Good Luck to ya!

It WILL go away and here is how.....A Clorox disinfecting wipe (Yellow Container)! It is as simple as that! It takes no elbow grease hardly at all either.
Believe me I know! My children have had their experience(S) with sharpies!!! Just last week it was my coffee table...Clorox wipe got it right off!
Where do they keep finding the darn things I ask!!!!!!
Lucky it was hard surface...cloth is more difficult!
Best of luck with the artwork!

Try putting Alcohol on a cotton ball and squeeze out a little(you don't want it to drip)
and see if that helps. or go to Sharpie on line and read what they say.

If you haven't gotten the marker off yet, use hairspray. Not an aresol but a pump hairspray, it will take it right off.
