Haha, no joke. Serena might be the toughest test for the guy at the moment. But of his current opponents, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are the only guys he has something to prove against. Barring injuries, Federer and Nadal will play on clay 2-4 times in the next 3 months. If Federer can't win one (or two) of these matches, there's always going to be a nagging question in his head and people are going to start to doubt if he can get the French Open as long as Nadal is around.

Andy Murray is the last player to beat Roger. Murray is really starting to look like the real deal and Federer is going to have to make a point of beating him badly the next time they play. Actually, there is a good chance they will play this week in Indian Wells.

Federer himself may consider the record book his greatest challenge. He is very focused on getting his 15th grand slam to break Pete's record. He would also like to get a couple one-year-slams like Rod Laver. He would also like to get 6 Wimbledons in a row to top Borg. He said it himself last week, "records are meant to be broken."

Given that Agassi and Sampras during the Australian Open both predicted that Federer will likely get up into Nicklaus territory, I'll say our Roger may well consider his greatest challenge to be Tiger Woods, who has more majors and a rather larger window of opportunity.

Nadal on clay, otherwise he personally said that Lleyton Hewitt understands his game the most.

Whoever he is playing that round I would think he would say. Nadal has given him the most difficult time so over a beer he would probably admit that.
