i know you can get moss, drench in water, blahhh blahh blahhh you get tardigrades. Are there any other ways to collect them?

Hi. From the web: "The most convenient place to find tardigrades is on lichens and mosses. Other environments are dunes, beaches, soil and marine or freshwater sediments, where they may occur quite frequently (up to 25,000 animals/l)."

You could get a glass tank (like an aquarium tank) or a large bottle and make your own moss and lichen environment to keep in your home. Make sure the tank is damp and, with an enclosed environment, the water will recycle itself. You will soon find that you have a ready supply of tardigrades.

You could add some other substrates (e.g. other species of moss and/or lichen etc.) from time to time but ensure that the environment is balanced.

You could use a plastic cup as a pitfall trap, perhaps.

you can buy a culture at carolina biological supplies...
I would not call it collecting it, but you end up with the critter.
