The Wii started out with strong sales, but it looks like not a lot of games are coming out for it. And Wii owners will be missing out on high graphics games that will be on PS3 and 360. The few games that are ported from other systems, Far Cry and Call of Duty have been bad. and graphics were very low quality.
I think the Wii will still be a distant third when all is done.

Absolutely not. I'm 57 and bought one and don't have any other game console. My 48 year old friend bought one also. We love the action of the controllers, playing tennis, golf, bowling. We have used the Wii at several family parties with 4 controllers, and everyone, even our wives love the games. They would never touch a PS3 or XBOX. Even my 84 year old father in law played golf with us (can't wait until Tiger Woods golf comes out).
As an engineer I'm amazed at the design of this $250 box that comes with 6 great games. The solid state accelerometers in the blue tooth controlers allow for very accurate pointing and provide much data for the game developers to use. It has wireless Internet connection and you can download a web browser and watch "you tube" videos in your living room. You can also do email. The Mi characters you create are used when you play and the ones not in the game fill out the audience. Mi characters from other Wii's can join you Wii via the Internet.
Bottom line, this is not like any other game console created. It appeals to all ages, from young kids to those of us who have a few decades of lifes experiences. It it equally appeals to females, which doubles their market.
Nintendo has a winner here, and will lead the way for others to follow.

the wii may not have as good graphics as the 360 or ps3 but graphics are not the most inpotant thing when playing a game. If the graphics are the first thing you look at when you buy a consle or a game then you are not a gamer your just a person that likes something because it's "shiny". A good game has to be interesting, fun, have hours of playtime, replay value, and a good story line among other things. Yes games like halo have replay value but thats only if you have xbox live becuase the story mode is not that intersting and you cant have friend over every day. there are to many halo copies out there but u can't ever duplicate one of the nintendo characters. anyway the wii just came out so it's graphics are going to get better. a lot of the ps3 launch games had bad graphics or other problems. i also remmeber the 360 had problems when it came out. u cant predict how good a consle is going to do based on the first months sence it's launch. miss out on good graphics? i rather miss out on good grapchics and play a great game the play a boring game with good graphics. also some one said that if the ps3 lowers it's prices it will sell better, i dont think so becuase of the blue-ray reader and the other things on the ps3 cost more to produce then they make when they sell it. it may go down in a year or more when blu-ray reader prices go down because blu-ray is new and really expensive to produce and very uncommon... how many blu-ray disc readers do u see in best buy and other stores, not a lot and the ones they may have cost over $500 for a good one.

The Wii is just as hard to get now as it was the week before Christmas (at least around here). I know of quite a few games I'll be getting for mine over the next year... And I know that most of the development community is fairly impressed with the Wii so they're gonna more likely want to make games on it. I think the Wii will do great.

The PS3, on the other hand... They seem to have some trouble selling. On top of that a lot of games that were gonna be PS3 exclusives changed their mind & are releasing XBox360 and/or Wii versions. The reason for the PS3's failure is the fanbase split. Nintendo & Microsoft's fanbases have almost no overlap... But Sony's fanbase overlaps greatly with both. Since XBox360 came out so much earlier & got their fanbase, and the PS3 cost $600 so Nintendo got all of their fanbase, the PS3 really hasn't much left to stand up on.

You can tell that they know this too by the fact that they're releasing God of War 2 on the PS2, and they're still supporting the PS2. At the GDC recently, I saw Sony advertising "Looking for a platform to express yourself on? How about three?" One - PS3, Two - PSP... The 3rd must be the PS2.

Not exactly. It is a bad console, but the company really didn't do that bad at the launch. They did start out with strong sales and they are selling to pretty much all young kids.

However, you can't last long with a console that bad. The next-generation is here and they just keep resisting technology. It's just like when the Playstation came out and they held on to their cute little cartridges and not discs.

And unlike Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo makes strictly video games. That means that if they don't sell the Wii, they can't sell anything else and they die.

The law of entropy states that all things will descend into chaos if they are not changed in some way at certain intervals. Sony has repeatdly changed and improved their consoles. Nintendo however, has never really gone any further after going into 3-D.

No, I don't think the Wii will crash in burn. Instead, I think that it will land safely, do nothing, wait a long time, then gradually start burning and someday blow up.

i think the Wii market will stay strong because the interaction appeals to different people than most consoles so people with a PS3 or XBOX 360 may not have a Wii but some one without a gaming system would likely have one.

While the first generation of third party games were incredibly weak, I think by the end of this year developers will really have a handle on how to program for it, and it will continue to outsell the PS3 and 360. The only thing that could make a difference in that is if the PS3's price drops DRAMATICALLY.

well i have a xbox360, and i wouldn't trade it for anything, espically a wii.

the graphics are great!!, and i dont see how a gay little remote will outsell something with graphics as good a the 360, this is also true about the ps3, however the xbox360 is cheaper than the ps3 with graphics a little worse than the ps3.

this is why the wii will never outsell the xbox or ps3, at least with serious gamers

I think it's going to be pretty even in the end. PS3 and Microsoft are going to split the hard core games, but the wii are going to bring in the families and the older crowd.

ultimately i think blu-ray might take over yet Ps3's porblem s that that's employing Blu-ray on the beggining of Blu-ray. i found out approximately blu-ray as quickly as I discovered approximately it become in the ps3. Blu-ray is certanly extra useful yet who desires to fork over the money and then haveto purchase a lot of latest stuff. Sorry Ps3 even though it deffinetly made a mistake whilst it positioned Blu-ray in it Oh and to the guy who did the whole promoting in 6 monthes element with reference to the xbox, did he forget approximately that they have got been bought out for those 6 monthes and microsoft ****** up on ythe transport of them at the same time as sony has them stockpilled (atleast the place i'm)
