I flew into Super Typhoon Wendy in Sept 1971 doing research for the US Air Force while at the same time living on Guam which was being threatened by three other storms all in row across the western north Pacific ocean.

I lived on a small tropical island called Saipan (which is close to Guam) for 8 years and have been in many, many typhoons/hurricanes. Some of them were quite exciting. We even had an outdoor BBQ during a tropical storm in our garage while the wind was blowing. Sometimes we would get in the hot tub during the evening and we would have to duck and go under the water whenever there was flying debris :p

We were crazy, but luckily we all lived through it and nobody was injured.
