Who is better:Spike or angel?

Question

Me and my friend are having a fight on who is better:Spike or Angel. I like Angel because he is sooo hot and The character of angelus is awsome. My friend likes Spike because he is hot and funny. We also fight about who is a better man. We dont know. Angel got his soul as a curse but he got it years ago and for a while he wouldnt even go near a human. Spike earned his but if him and Drusilla never came to Sunnydale he wouldnt of got it. Please tell me what you think about the characters

Finally a question about my favorite tv show! I love Spike! I like Spike because:
A) He chose his soul, whereas Angel got cursed
B) He REALLY loved Buffy(if you watch BTVS) and wanted to be with her, whereas Angel was so scared of everything that he didn't try to move things along
C) He doesn't sulk and mope about everything

I agree with all you've said. I personally think Angel and Spike are like the opposite sides of a coin. They both are worth the same, but have different designs. Angel is so hot when he's good, but hotter when he's bad. Spike is the same either way. Spike always had ulterior motives. Angel was either really good or really bad. I do how ever prefer the Angel and Buffy love story over the Spike and Buffy love/hate story. I never liked them as a couple. Either way we've got two really hot guys on both shows. That is until they cancelled them both. At least you can still see David B on the show Bones.

I think angel is a better man, but spike is a better character. Angel is waaaayy to serious and frankly an old soul (no punn intentended) but spike is more new age and is very awsome. I mean, even when he has a soul he's not afraid to hit humans (though refranes from killing them). Angel is more mysterious, but you gotta love Spike's arrogance. Depending on what you look for in a character i guess it comes down too. And Spike is exactly what i was looking for... a bad-*** member of the scoobies!!!!!!

Spike is so much better because he is so hot and so funny. I think spike is a better man too because he went out and earned his soul and angel got it as a punishment. Plus even when spike didn't have a soul he wasn't that evil, he was just kind of rude. Spike had humanity in him even when he was a vampire.

I CAN"T choose- I love both characters- and I loved the "Angel" spinoff- was ticked off when they stopped airing it here in Aust. Spike was great for the sense of humour and "poor bloody me" attitute- and he got the girl (whether it be the real one or the Buffy-bot). Angel had morality, regardless of the soul. Just having a soul doesn't make one a good person- but he did try, especially during the spinoff years. Like 'em both!! Great shows, I'd love to catch them all again.... By the way, Lorn was a fantastic character- not hot, but very interesting!!

Hard to say,, as you noted Angel was cursed with his, and Spike's was given because he improperly worded a request to a demonic entity in the hopes of having the V-chip removed from his head.

Neither one asked for it so thats a wash.

Both were equal bastards when evil.

both nailed Buffy-and in the process: Spike destroyed a house, Angel went evil again

I vote Spike, if only because he plays 'Kitten Poker'

it has to be Angel , he was so hot , and also so evil as Angleus , so different to Angel characteristics.

For many season i never really liked Spike , but during last season or 2 i really enjoyed his character, and changed my opinion of him
