I love Steinbeck. A lot of people I know are just bored to tears by his descriptive narrative-- but that's just because they don't know how to derive meaning and context from it! They have a museum dedicated to him in his home town of Salinas (they even have THE "Rocinante" that he drove in Travels with Charley!). They've also made a museum of the home in which he was born and wrote some of his first major works! They're really cool to see if you're able to travel out to the central coast of CA...

I liked the grapes of wrath, he is good at taking the reader to the scene. I love how he had the characters digging their hands in the dirt as they talked about leaving O.K. It showed their connection to the land.

Steinbeck is one of my favorites too. He writes in a very simple style, easy to read, incredible stories. I recommend him to everyone.
