Ok I have set my account up to recieve incoming mail by typing mail.mosaictraining.co.uk but I don't know how to set up outgoing mail.
What do I have to type? Help sites all say different things like pop., mail., smtp, but none of those work

I'm going out on a limb here, but I suspect the message your getting is "relaying is not allowed" - ISPs do this to prevent people sending Span and other canned meats. The trick is to use the settings for the ISP you connect with, with a reply address of the e-mail address you want. For example, I connect using Sky, so my SMTP is something like SMTP.sky.com and the reply address ????@virgin.net. When I connect, Sky sends the e-mail and virgin receives it.

Try these 2, most ISPs use one on these formats
smtp.mosaictraining.co.uk
and
mail.mosaictraining.co.uk

I would suggest you to set the POP3 as the type of account.

For more information you can refer the following web sites:

or

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/171163

or

I am pretty sure that you will be able to configure the Outlook Express for you emails using the above links.

You need to contact your internet provider- they will be able to tell you what kind of account to setup and what the settings are.
