I have 2 options one for a brand new engine from Jasper engines for $4500 installed.
Then a rebuilt engine from autozone installed for about 2800.
Is it really worth it for the brand new one?

GEE.....thanks for assuming that since I am a woman I know absolutley nothing about engines. Well...I went with the 350 Jasper engine with the eldebrock component package and a new radiator installed complete for 3800. The reason I went this way is because yes it is a 91 Caprice but it has been restored to a "scarface" caprice so the motor was worth it to me.

If it was my car, I would do an LT1 conversion. It would be a great driving car then. But, since you are a woman, I don't know if you really want to do that or not. On that note, get the motor from AutoZone. If I remember correctly, they have an unlimited mile warranty for two years. On motors, you want to get as much warrenty as you can get.

The Jasper isn't brand new, but it has every part that can wear out replaced with new ones as good or better than factory, so it's as good as brand new. It also comes with a 75,000 mile warranty, which tells you something about it's quality. If you didn't care about money, the Jasper is better, but I don't think it's really worth it for that car. In fact, unless that car was in extremely good shape, it wouldn't make much sense to pour that kind of money into it. You could probably get a used engine put in for $1400 or so.

I would go with the brand new Jasper, because there may be problems with the rebuilt one that the rebuilder could not see. Also, you do not know if they used cheap parts to rebuild it with. Jasper is a good company and will not sell you something that is going to fall apart before you get it home

Labor is useually about $700 and a GM Goodwrench 350ci 1987-95 Engine With
200hp 300 ft/lbs Torque # 809-12568758
$1,729.99 thru www.jeg's.com
so your total would be $2500 with labor, new engine, and new fluids.
i would go with this one though jegs.com. a GM Goodwrench engine is just like your car would have came from the factory with.

it would probubly be cheaper to buy a newer nicer vehicle, but a new engine at a dealership will run you 2500-3500 plus 1500-2500 install, at a private shop this whole deal will cost you about $3500, the vehicle is probubly worth 1200-3500 depending on miles and condition, 3500 being show quality, get a used impala (95-96) or a ford focus '00-01 for less than $3000, or I even have a few 00-01 cars (kia, hyundai, etc.) for less than $4000 for sale www.y2kford.com

No,the rebuilt engines work fine I would go with that.I believe they also come with a descent warranty. Although you might look somewhere besides autozone there products aren't very good.

a '91? is it worth either of them?
There is a lot more than just an engine that can wear out on a car.
You have to ask yourself, "Is this car worth putting a lot of money into?"
