It does matter, depending on what you're wearing over them! Light colored garments require flesh/neutral tone underwear, anything else will be highly visible. Otherwise, dark garments and jeans will conceal your underwear pretty well.

With the skidmark problem, you'd think guys would have opted for basic brown years ago.

T'is best not to wear underwear, but if you do, color's irrelevant (just make 'em minimal.)

It does matter if you can see them through your dress or pants. Looks very tacky and cheap.
