4x^4 + 4x^2 - 4x^2 -5x^2 -9 = 4x^2( x^2 +1 ) - 9( x^2 +1 )
= ( x^2 +1 )( 4x^2 -9 ) = ( x^2 +1 )( 2x - 3 )( 2x + 3 )

As shown in a previous problem, the roots of this polynomial are +/- i and +/- 3/2.
So the factors are (x+i)(x-i)(x+3/2)(x-3/2).
