I buy and sell on ebay. The trick is to firstly look online to see what price you would pay in a shop and knowing that, then search ebay and decide, taking into account the additional p&p cost, the max you want to pay for it. Secondly, always look at a seller's feedback %age rating. But you need to be sensible in interpreting that. For example I normally don't buy from any seller with less than 99% feedback rating but I wouldn't if they'd only sold 2 items and got 99%. I would if they've sold hundreds or thousands and got around 99/98%. Also check the feedback left, not just the numbers and see if there's a pattern, like bad packaging, not sent, item broken, too much postage charged etc. I am proud to have a 100% feedback record as both a buyer and seller and ebay have recently introduced new feedback categories...or rather you can score your seller in 5 different categories such as communication, speed of delivery, postage charged etc. There ARE actually a lot of genuine ebayers like myself out there. Once you know what you're doing, you will get things cheaper, or rare things you wouldn't get elsewhere and I can't count the number of unique things I've bought as gifts for people that I simply would never have found elsewhere online or on the high street.
Also a few people have said to pay by paypal, linked to a credit or debit card but your info is secure and it gives you protection. I agree. I only pay by and accept payment by paypal for that very reason. Plus I can't be bothered to have to drive to a bank and wait for clearance of a cheque etc. I want to sell and despatch as quickly as possible.
Also, a lot of people just accept an item they're unhappy with instead of going back to the seller and politely explaining why. I've just got myself a refund of excess postage from a seller simply because I asked civilly.
If you want to buy genuine items from an honest seller, you can always search for mine....and check out my feedback. My ebay seller id is celinego.....just go look!

Well it is and it is'nt recently i had someone bid an win on a dvd i was selling, they were a new member,so they did'nt have any feedback scores, they haven't payed for the dvd i have sent them an invoice and emails but no reply,so now i have opened a unpaid item dispute, which they haven't replied to,so now i have to wait for 8 days before i can relist the item and get a credit from ebay,so that person really wasted my time,i haven't had any problems with anyone else, you might find some people charge alot for postage, but it's best not to bid on those items. Also don't buy from people with a low feedback score. And paypal is the safest way to pay,as you can get a refund if anything goes wrong.

It would really depend on who you purchase from and what item you purchase, and how you pay the seller. Always buy from a reputable seller, and research about the item before you purchase because there are many counterfeit items on ebay. And use a secure payment service like paypal, and you should be fine. I haven't had any problems with ebay yet.

I've made many purchases on eBay with only two problem and those seller made it right. Take the time to look at the sellers' ratings. Even if a seller's positive percentage is pretty high, I shy away from them if they have too many recent negative/neutral ratings.

Why are you venting here instead of utilizing the buyer protections that eBay (and if you paid with Pay Pal) have installed as a part of doing business using this eCommerce site?

Did you practice safe trading or even read any of eBay FREE tutorials BEFORE buying ot bidding?
Did you investigate the seller's Feedback reputation BEFORE you bid or bought? Did you read the entire Item Description to see of there are any discrepancies or disagreements BEFORE you bid or bought?

Did you even go to eBay's Live Help Chat to see what could be done? Did you contact your credit card company? Did you contact PayPal? Did you even read the eBay Buyer Protection procedure to see what could be done?

eBay and PayPal together with your credit card company can assist you in getting your money back despite the NARU"d status of the seller. That may be only a temporary thing and often sellers' accounts are current again. But you have to file the dispute with eBay and PayPal if applicable.

eBay is only a venue in which millions of sellers and buyers have access to each other. eBay is only as safe as you protect yourself to be. You are ultimately responsible for protecting yourself online.

Ebay is secure, purely examine the comments of the guy you're paying for from. in the event that they have too many negatives, you do no longer desire to handle them. you will pay in despite style the vendor demands. in case you pay for something and don't obtain it or that's broken, you are able to generally artwork it out with the vendor for a reimbursement or alternative. Request some form of monitoring kind. do no longer handle people who desire to grant you a authorized examine for extra beneficial than what you're merchandising for. that's a rip-off. pass to the ebay sellers internet site, and it will walk you throughout the approach. you are able to deliver products distant places with maximum kit transport centers alongside with the U. I have bought several things and nothing bad has happened. I ususally send payment by Paypal linked to a credit card, which gives me some ability to get money back if a deal goes bad (which has never happened). eBay itself helps to regulate what transpires that helps keep people in line. I feel it is like any internet or mail-order transaction, and ultimately any transaction; there is some risk, but it is usually minimal.

I've bought and sold loads of stuff, sold to all over the world, bought from all over the world.
No major problems as yet, a couple of minor ones soon resolved.
Just go in with your eyes open and your common sense switched on, you should be fine.

it's very dependent on what you buy and who you buy it from.

I buy quite a bit from there, and I also sell quite a bit. I have very good feedback and I am very honest with everyone on there.

there are some horrid people out there, I have been a victim of shill bidding but got over it quite quickly, but am very weary when placing a bid.
