you need to speak to your doctor, are you on bed rest, then no, but if you are only on partial bed rest there are some things you can do. I have been put on partial and full bed rest for all of my pregnancies and we can't help you determine the activities that your body can handle. We don't know the reasons you are high risk. Speak to your doctor about specifics. For a while I could only do chores that I could sit down for, folding clothes ect. I was never allowed to vacume with any of my pregnancies. My hsuband has always cleaned anything that required chemicals, not by doctors orders, but so I didnt' inhale the fumes. You really need to sit with your doctor and get specifics. Especially since you have been diagnosed as high risk so soon.

First off, since you're high-risk, you should ask your doc how much you can safely do. He/She would know more about your history and can answer that better than anyone here.

Second, cleaning during pregnancy is pretty much okay, excepting anything that would be a stretch (and I mean that literally and figuratively). You wouldn't want to put your body in positions that would resemble those made by an olympic gymnast.

As for the chemicals themselves, for all 3 of my pregnancies I always used latex gloves when cleaning. This is an area where I always lived by the motto "err on the side of caution". The possibility of chemicals seeping into my body and, subsequently, into my baby was just too scary for me to consider not using gloves. Also, only use chemicals in areas that are well-ventilated. Serious fumes could knock out anyone...you certainly don't need to take that chance.

But if you're asking this for your hubby...it's always better for a pregnant woman to rest whenever possible... :)

Good luck!

Think of it this way...Whats more important to you(i can only guess the baby)...I'm sure that you would rather be positive that your baby is safe than have a clean house. Seven weeks is very early..and especially in a high risk pregnancy you should be very careful..all throughout your first trimester. Dont lift, or pull or move anything over like 5 lbs. Also be careful with the fumes of household cleaners...Those fumes can be dangerous for you...And the baby. Just be careful. Do slight things...and its OK to ask for help. Im only fifteen..but my mom works @ a pregnancy center so I hear about ALL kinds of baby things all the time. I would get more imput on this subject. Congratulations on your baby!! =)

Ask your doctor how vigorously you can clean and what cleaning products to avoid. If you have certain kinds of risks in your pregnancy you will need to limit your activity, but those kinds of risks are rare. My thinking is that using heavy cleaning products may present more of a risk overall than the physical activity of cleaning. Consider looking into natural products. Method is a brand of cleaning stuff you might want to look into.

Usually you can be as physically active as you want. I know of women who bicycled, lifted weights, jogged and did a number of other high exertion activities while pregnant... staying in shape will help you when it comes time for delivery.

But definitely get the clearance from your doctor before doing anything strenuous in case the kind of risk your pregnancy faces is something that will restrict your activities this early on.

Yes its alright. Just don't use any harsh chemicals. like bleach or ammonia.

I suggest getting one of those disposable toilet cleaners. Like the Mr Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Bowl Cleaner. That way you don't have to use bleach or anything. And you can just flush the little pad down the toilet.

Also, don't over do it. If you feel tired, take a rest.

Im 34 weeks pregnant and my fiance works out of town. he is usually gone for 3 weeks then home for a week. I have to clean the whole house by myself most of the time. Unless he is home, then i make him do the cleaning. Thats my days off. lol.

It also helps if you get into a habit. Pick something to clean that day and jsut do that. For example, Mondays, clean the bedroom. Tuesdays, clean the kitchen. ect. I usually do the dishes every second day. That way they don't pile up.

Good Luck and Congradulations.

Of course you may clean. Light housekeeping (dish washing, sweeping, dusting, etc.) will not hurt you or the baby, as long as you do it in moderation. If your doctor has stated that you are at high risk, he would have clarified what is not allowed during your pregnancy, and that you should stay off your feet entirely. Naturally, you will not want to do any heavy lifting, as that is not suggested even during a normal pregnancy. As usual, when in doubt...always ask your doctor! Take care.

If you are at a high risk and do intense physical activities it would be bad. maybe some light cleaning but don't over do it. You may want to hire a helper or get the hubby to help out a little. Good luck with your pregnancy and take it easy.

Ohhhhhhh no . . . No house cleaning allowed for the duration of your pregnancy...no cooking either. Someone else should be doing that for you.

Just kidding...I have three kids (now ages 14, 17 and 20) fine to do anything that you feel safe and comfortable with is fine. Most important thing is to 'listen' and pay attention to the signals of your body. Paying attention to your body will let you know how much or less is right for you. If you feel any concerns about exerting yourself in any way...then wait and talk with your doctor for reassurance.
.
Enjoy your pregnancy...it's a beautiful experience.

Just do what you feel capable of doing and try not to over exert yourself. Rest when you can.
I can understand where you are coming from. I had a miscarriage last year and if i got pregnant again i would want to spend the first 12 weeks in bed!!
Take it easy and try not to worry. All the best, i hope you have a very enjoyable pregnancy!
