I know most of you will answer this question with a strong "NO" .........

Sooo...explain to me why, if it's not being taught in the home, it still exists? And what can we do to change it?

I taught my children to not hate, based on love. I taught them that hate is self-destructive, and those who use hate to cause suffering to others will have that hate visited upon themselves. It is the law of nature.

For the sake of self-preservation, self-awareness, and self-respect, I taught my children that our duty as humans is to help preserve the life of others, be aware of the dignity of others, and to respect others. We must first be taught who we are, before we can be taught who others are.

I find in every racist person self-hatred first.

I know that the majority who answers your question will say "no" and maybe they don't intentionally. Unfortunately all of us do whether we want to admit it or not. I have caught myself several times not teaching my children mind you but with my own actions over someone in anger. Most of us parents don't realize, when we are angered with someone whether it's a crazy driver that gets in our way, or someone carelessly runs a shopping cart in our new paint job, or a person cutting in line or making a smart remark. It comes to us naturally to protect ourselves to having a "come back" so do speak or become frustrated and yell and say things that might not be appropriate for us kids to hear. Our children witness these actions of ours and "ditto" they perform the act as well because they feel if "mommy & daddy" do it, then it's ok. We as parents don't intentionally "teach" our children to "hate" but it's our own actions towards others when angered that teach our children. So as parents we have to watch carefully that what we say and do when we are angered aren't involving our childrens views. Now I would have to say that alot of the "hate" that our children do witness is right on the T.V. whether it's a movie, sitcom or even a cartoon. Even at our theaters. Children see these actions at their own schools so it's not always in the home. What can we do to solve this problem? Good question. I don't think there is an answer or a solution. If we all worked together then thats one thing but not everyone is willing to change.

No parent should teach their child to hate any race, why? because when the kids get grown and get a job, they will not be able to work with different races because they have so much hate for them. There are many reasons why parents shouldn't teach their children, but unfortunately I can't think of any at this time.

"You've got to be taught to hate," is an old song from the sixties. Children have no natural, inborn, hate or bigotry. Churches have a lot to do with the teaching of hate, so don't blame it all on the parents.

Examples: Witches, Gays, Lesbians, and all non majority religions.

Once taught to hate, the child finds it a wondrous weapon to play with and begins to garner its own list of hates---like other children who might be more intelligent.

it can be taught in the home but alot of it is also tought on the street. I dont care where you grow up at in what area or anything else you can be rich or poor and you still have it there on the street. my little girl came home and asked me what is the difference between a HONKY an a ***..GER. now may i remind you she is only 4. i had to explain it to her. but it started on the street in the neighborhood at a friends.but it was from the street the other girl herd it from.

lol you're right about the strong NO!!!!! lol but it still exists because some people still teach it, whether it's unintentional or not. like ....just little side comments about people of other races or like exclusion or anything can affect the kids' way of thinking ...also, we've got all the old white rich gits out there who think they know everything, so that REALLY doesnt help! lol also....to change it....just act normal!!! i mean, dont be like ...oh. ur black. go away. ok that makes things worse! lol.....our society is b*llsh*t. who knows.

I freely admit to being prejudice. As a youth, I had bad experiences with certain races. I don't think it's wrong to share those experiences with my children to prepare them for what they might also face.

I couldn't stand long distance races and always believed sprints, as well as field events such as long jump, high jump, shot put and discus were superior.

Don't have any and if I did I wouldn't do that anyway for many reasons one of which I would be afraid for them if they said something bad and got in trouble and...for god sakes it's 2007! Live and let live! You know what I mean?
