There are a couple of Windows Folders that contain "Temporary Internet Files". There are hundreds of these files, some quite large, and some dating back several years. Since Windows has deemed these to be "temporary", why do they still exist? Is there any reason not to delete them? Please advise what cautions I should take.

Thank You

You can delete the files which Windows considers as Temporary files.

You can free up the space by using the Disk Cleanup utility which will help you in identifying the temporary files and you can delete all the temporary files using the Disk Cleanup.

Start->All Programs-> Accessories->System Tools->Disk Cleanup.

You can also perform the Disk Defrag so that the performance of the computer increases by following these steps:

Open My COmputer->right C: Drive-> Properties-> Tools->Defragment Now.

Delete away! It won't hurt a thing. I do it weekly.

Go to Tools...internet options...general...delete temporary internet files.
