I missed it all on TV so I have bought series 1 on DVD and am currently working my way through them with my elderly mother. We both enjoy it and she tolerates the more violent and disturbing scenes purely because she likes the way the intricate escape plan is unfolding (and, no doubt, the chiselled features of the protagonists).

However she has said that she doesn't want to see any part of the series if the cat (belonging to the elderly inmate with the moustache and all the money hidden away somewhere) is harmed or killed graphically (if it dies it's OK, just as long as it isn't shown in any detail). She loves animals and is especially fond of cats, and, being slightly senile, has a difficult time realising that some aspects of TV shows are 'make believe'.

I'd be very grateful if any one could tell me whether the cat comes to any harm in series 1- if so in which episode or scene (so I can tell her to look away).

Maybe petty, I know, but thanks!

the cat goes missing during a riot, but is found by michael. michael asks westmoreland, the elderly man, for a favor, but he refuses for fear of trouble, in case the parole board ever reviews his case. westmoreland is then questioned by bellick, a C.O., about a murdered officer. when westy refuses to name names, bellick kills his cat, marla.

in an act of revenge, westmoreland starts the fire that michael asked him too, and frames bellick for starting it.

the cat is not shown bloodied or anything, but she is shown limp and still. it might be hard for your mother to watch.

EDIT -

I just watched the episode "The Old Head" again, and you will know the sight of the dead cat is coming when - westmoreland, is in a t shirt and boxers, with a towel over his shoulder, is walking back towards his cell. his hair is wet and slicked back. there are two or three guys outside his cell, and one of them says, "that's messed up, man."

Yes in episode 8 'The Old Head' you see the cat laying stiff on Wes Morlan's bunk. It looked pretty real, like it had it's neck broken, but it was just laid out stiff. It's only a 10 sec shot, if you want to watch it first so you know when to skip it would be a good idea.

Don't build your hopes up on the elderly gentleman lasting the series either.

I love Prison Break....

Yes the cat dies but nothing is show of it being killed!! You do see it dead but not too graphic!!

Enjoy the series - it's fantastic!!!!

Can't remember which episode - it will tell on the website but that might spoil the surprise of what happens elsewhere in the plot!?!

i think of tweener. i'm on the edge of the settee a week reason that's getting so extreme. i ask your self how long they might postpone the chase before they might desire to alter it up. there are not many men left to capture and that i might hate to verify the season caught short. i might desire to verify extra, like an ordeal or something and the entire scheme related to the president to return out and to verify the brother set unfastened as quickly as and for all

Yea, it's cool that their filming in my own backyard right now. I haven't actually had the opportunity to witness shooting. I'm sure they've got tight security. But I love recognizing places.
They were supposed to be in Chicago when Lincoln had that guy wade into the pond before He met Michael. They were actually just outside The Cotton Bowl.

I was the exact same way as your mom too. When I found out there was a cat in Prison Break, I thought to myself, I really really hope she does not die. But seeing as it is a prison show, and it's often violent, I figured she would die. She is murdered, but the murder is not shown.

Yes. I'm sorry to say the cat is murdered by someone. But the murder itself is not shown. The dead cat is. It's not a really bloody sight though. Just sad.

I don't actually watch it but I tape it for our chef and his assistant at work. It might be on but I'm usually answering questions on here during it. ... No space ships you see. Now, 'scuse me; the mother ship ... sorry ... work beckons.

Usually, that's too long for me. I think it depends on the guy as well as his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and other people can't.
