Well it depends on how much time you have on your hands to dedicate to its care. But i hope this helps!!

*if you want a puppy you are going to need a lot of time to spend with it. Potty training, Basic manner training ( not chewing things up), walking, feeding, vet trips, brushing etc.. They are very social and NEED attention. COSTLY

*If you want a cat they require less attention and most of the time they just go off and do their own thing- you are going to have to be willing to clean their litterboxes and take them to the vet for shots and other things. NO TOO COSTLY

*If you want a bird those dont require too much time if you have MORE THAN ONE. If you have ONE bird it needs a lot of attention because they are very social and need some sort of companion whether bird or human-- i'd suggest getting two though. However if you do not get a bird that needs a companion, such as a cockatu ( their live on their own only) it is going to need A LOT, and i mean A LOT of attention, possibly more than a dog. They are messy and loud so be ready! COSTLY

*Guinea pigs require attention but not to the max, same with hamsters, chinchilla, rabbits etc... You have to clean their cages quite a lot, maybe like once a week and make sure that you include veggies in their diet- however they dotn require very much vet work or anything like that, they are cute and small but dont really interact that much with you, if thats what you are looking for. NOT COSTLY

*Ferrets are almost like small cats, however they need a large cage and a lot of times they run free about the house. I have to warn you, some can be violent ( they are known to suffocate babies ), they smell bad ( anal scent gland ) and they are MESS makers!!! They will get into the trash and weasel around almost anything. So if you have time to keep an eye on the thing then you could get a ferret. NOT TOO COSTLY

* Fish dont require much of anything, just a feeding twice a day and tank cleaning every 2 weeks or so depending on the amount, they are pretty and can live together in MOST cases. If you get a more high matinence fish like a puffer fish or an exotic salt water fish, be ready to check the temperature, PH levels and other fussy things about the tank an enviornment-- they die off very easily and are rather sensitive.

*Horse= i dont reccommend. If you dont ride dont get one, they are out of the question and a lot of hard work. NOT COSTLY

*Reptiles arent bad pets, but you really have to love them to have one because reptiles like iguana love attention, need huge cages that have to be cleaned often, specialized meals and they can be very temperamental. If you get a reptile such as a snake, be ready to feed it live mice which can be a very sick and sad process. Snakes dont necessarily WANT attention but dont mind it. After awhile they arent that fun, so if thats what your looking for dont get one. SORT OF COSTLY

it's up to your liking, a cat is a loving animal that is very soft and cuddly, but they are indepedant so you don't have to baby them always

A dog is okay, but they have a smell about them that is quite nasty. As puppies getting excited they pee on you and the barking all night and day is just annoying to no end. They need to be babied all the time, you got to take em outside to poop.

A bird is a fun loving character that can whistle up a storm and sometimes can annoy or liven up things. They're feathers and bird seed can get into the rug and when vaccuming can make a ruckus that is just awful.

A chicken or rooster a noisy varmits especially early in the morn, but the chicken lays fresh eggs and you can bet they're fresher than your local grocery store.

A hamster is a quit animal but noisy at night when it runs on its habitrail wheel making a terrible squeek that can wake the dead. They can bite, and ow! It really hurts.

Fish are quiet but the pump in the aquarium can put you right to sleep. Although you can't hold and cuddle a fish you can watch them and have a calming effect.

GOOD LUCK!

Cats are great pets to have, i have had them all my life & i couldn't be with out them, they are very affectionate pets but also independent at the same time, they are easy to look after as they tend to just look after themselves more or less, but do need & like lots of hugs & playtime. I would also recommend a staffordshire bull terrier, i have one she is my 1st dog & she is the most loving thing in the world & is fantastic with my children.

do you want a fun pet that you can play with?
cats are great pets, they are fun yet they don't get on your nerves a lot like dogs... and they're EASY to house train.

ifyou want a cheaper and less expensive pet just to "have" one... try a beta fish!! they are super cheap and easy to take care of. all you need is a little glass dish- they don't even require a filter.

other fun pets that are small anddon't require too much attention are parakeets and gerbils!! goodluck

GET SOMETHING WITH A GOOD SWEET VOICE AND SOMETHING SMALL ENOUGH TO PUT IN YOUR POCKET IF IT GETS INTO TROUBLE WHILE TAKING IT FOR A WALK. OR YOU COULD BUILD A SMALL PEN OFF THE GROUND AND RAISE A COUPLE OF RABBITS. ALWAYS THINK OF " WHEN YOU GO ON VACATION " CAN I TEND TO THE PET.?? IF YOU CANT TEND TO A LIVE PET JUST GET A STUFFED ANIMAL.

It entirely depends on how much time you want to put in, dogs are great but very time consuming, cat are less time consuming and more independant but still need companionship. You could start with a hamser or mouse and see how you find that first

RAT. Rats are friendly smarter than the average human and way cleaner than people . All the bad things you hear about rats are true about 1 out of 1,000 times. You have to get two because they need the company of other rats even though they will be your friend. I own rats.
