I find the questions asked on Yahoo! Answers very telling in terms of what people know or don't know factually, what people are interested in, how people relate to one another, and so on. On the whole, what do you think about the kinds of questions asked here? Do you find them troubling? Enlightening? Humorous? I'm interested in your thoughts!

For me it depends on the kind of question. If some one has a honest question about something relating to them then I will try to answer it if I can. The questions that stereo type show to me that the asker is immature, or egotistical, and usually biased to begin with. And then you have the questions about tattoos and piercings that ask "what should I get?" ... It's your body! I get so sick of people asking for opinions on what looks good as far as tattoos when it is their body and that will be for the person not everyone else.
What it boils down to is what are they asking? Is it something that they do not know the answer to and are looking for facts? Is it slanted in the asking? Is it worth answering? Do I know anything about what they are asking? I find that the more open minded and specific a question is the easier it is to answer and it shows that the asker put thought into posting a well worded, organized and appropriate question. The ones that ask "why do people do this?" and "This is SO gross! No one should EVER do this" so on are the ones that are venting and ironically the ones that most of the other stupid question askers answer. It is insight into someone. Some people post the dumbest things and then others will do it for fun but make it easy to understand. Shows some of the persons personality without having to know them.
The feeling varies, some times it's annoying, or freaky, enlightening, humorous, all the way around every question is different in how I feel about answering it.

*I like this question!*

It depends on where you look on Yahoo! Answers.

If you look in the relationships section, you'll find that many middle schoolers and high schoolers are having a lot of the same problems and they are all stuck at the same spot in solving their problems. They all seem very discouraged or lost and don't seem to have much footing. This might suggest that the way they are treated by their peers is also similar and this might say something about society in general. This might not be society's fault, as the way that all the lost people react to they way they are treated causes them to have all their problems, and the only way they think they can fix them is not by trusting their friends to help them through, but instead by asking random people on Yahoo! Answers.

Other places have questions that if the asker had taken the time to carefully think through or ask people they know, they would easily have the answer. This might mean that a lot of Yahoo! Answers users are lazy. I don't think this is too much of a bad thing because it is less strenuous to ask people who you know will help you to do something for you than to do it yourself.

I first came to Yahoo! Answers when I was linked here by a comedy site that had a feature on hilarious puberty questions asked by pre-teens or people who asked them because it would be funny.

I like yahoo questions b/c it is the knowledge (used lightly lol) of many people in one place. HOWEVER, many people use it as a place to be a pain in the butt. Seriously. A lot of people don't respect others opinions AT ALL and i think they say the stuff they do b/c there are no consequences. some people put down stupid answers that help in no way at all (a comment is okay like 'good question' but not like 'who cares, we should kill all of them'). But on the positive side, there are many people that give good, thought out questions that help. I think yahoo questions kick butt.

I find alot of the questions asked are people looking to validate what it is they are doing. They've probably already answered them themselves they are just looking for people to say that it's ok. I think this speaks volumes about what society is doing to individuallity...its hard for some people to be alone in the way they think, feel, speak and act. This is why we have things around us telling us how to be on a daily basis(hence yahoo interactive). This place really stands to remind me of how how much people don't trust in themselves enough to see it doesn't matter what other peoples opinions are as long as what you are doing makes it good for you. Oh and also some of the questions are great reminders of my younger years and I find them very cute.

I think it really depends on the category you ask in. Polls and Surveys brings out the nut cases. Psychology and the Social Sciences are worth getting good answers in. Most people are fairly serious here. I like the Finance and Investing Categories. People are pretty straightforward there.

It all boils down to the category as far as I'm concerned.
