stereotype and racism?

Question

how come when someone bad stereotype someone like for example saying Mexicans are dirty - that is considered being racist...

but when you good stereotype about someone like for example saying all Chinese people are smart - that is considered a compliment and no racist....wtf??


the soeicty today is twisted....they only want to hear what they want wheather is right or wrong.

There really is little difference between stereotypes and racism. They both paint a picture of an individual based soley on outward appearance or their relationship to society.

Here we are over 30 years after Dr. Martian Luther King Jr. said that he had a dream that his children would be judged on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin and yet color is still the first weight on the scale.

I really don't have an answer for why, but I wanted to comment on this great question.

Well for instance why can't I say the N word, but blacks can call blacks an N. It is just a word, an ignorant word at that. People will often "stereotype" cultures/people because they do not understand. I , being of Belgian parents and coming to the US was sterotyped as a child. I dressed a little differently, my parents did not yet speak English very well and kids would make fun of me because my "household" and customs were different. So there we come back to complete ignorance. Bottom line, if you are not like me you are different. Sad but true and it needs to stop, people are people, we are all the same inside, who gives a darn what we look like on the outside As far as the Chinese being smarter, I think that is a society based issue. These kids start at a young age, and are pushed by their parents, and respect what their parents say.

No such thing as good stereotype. Those people who stereotype others are moronic idiots. They deserved to be shot.

how come I'm not allowed to say I'm proud to be white? Black pride and latino/a pride is ok.
