I have noticed that my 17 year old niece likes to chat online with her friends. Nothing unusual there right? Well at the same time, she will be talking to the very same person over the phone. Also the whole time they will be checking out each others Myspace pages and "commenting" each others latest pictures - whatever the hell that means.
Is this normal activity for teenage girls? Multiple means of communication with the very same person at the very same time?

Yes. I do it all the time. I'm a teen and i can be texting, talking on the phone, instant messaging, and sending an email to the same person all at one time. Here is a big hint: we love to talk! lol, at least all my friends and I do. It may just sounds like "stupid talk" (as my brother says referring to boys, mean teachers, and killer homework ect) but talking is our way of letting out our feelings and talking about our problems. It is what we do.

Its not entirely uncommon, but most of us don't do that. Usually the only time I will be on the phone with someone while commenting them on MySpace is when they tell me to go check out new pictures or something on their site, and then I will go leave a comment for them. It's usually two different conversations going on. Sometimes my friend and I will talk on AIM while emailing at the same time with two different topics going.

GAWD, I can't even talk on the phone and do dishes at the same time. These kids can multi-task like there is no tomorrow. I have seen my niece do it and she is only 13. Yet you give them a simple command about the dishes and their room and it doesn't get done???
