1. Clean the fridge and freezer out completely, getting rid of any frost or ice in the freezer too. Wash them out thoroughly with a mild soap, dish soap for instance, making sure to get the racks and doors too. Don't use Pine Sol or anything smelly that will linger or leave residue.
2. Double check for a drain pan. Some older fridges have them and if there has been a spill it can get smelly.
3. Cut the top off a box of baking soda and put it somewhere in the fridge where the air will circulate around it, but out of the way so it doesn't get knocked over.
Should take care of it.

Wipe the inside of the fridge with a mixture of 2 tbsp baking soda, 1/2 cup vinegar and 1 qt water (it may bubble a little bit - but it is not toxic and it works wonders for cleaning fridges and microwaves). Just wipe down the smooth surfaces on the interior of the fridge and rinse with lukewarm water (any vinegar smell will dissipate quickly). After that put in a fresh box of baking soda to absorb future odors.

Remove everything, put the perishables in a cooler with clean (new ice you got from the store or freezer), and then clean the inside of the fridge with water and baking soda or organic cleanser.
Leave an opened box of baking soda to absorb the odors, or two or three, one for each level.

i might take each little thing out of the refrigerator and wash in down with a gentle purifier. No Bleach. additionally especially circumstances ingredients and drinks spill below the packing containers in the refrigerator. you ought to eliminate the bin and wash them. there's a great probability you will discover some old liquid and residue under them. some fridges have a seize tray under the refrigerator that desires to be wiped sparkling. After thoroughly washing the interior of refrigerator and throwing out any old nutrition, you are able to leave a field of baking soda to absorb odors. that's replaced as quickly as a month.

Thoroughly clean the fridge with soap and water, then again with a mild bleach solution. Once that's done, put an opened box of baking soda inside and leave it.

I always find the best thing is to empty the fridge just in case you are missing something, then wipe down with vanilla essence, it gets rid of every smell....it's fantastic. It doesn't hurt to first wipe the whole fridge down with bicarb soda paste before the vanilla essence.
