I want to buy tickets for an upcoming concert, but the person selling them says they are e-tickets.

I have not been to a concert in 15 years and this is new to me.

Have you had any experience with this?

Have you had trouble gaining entrance to a concert with them?

Can they be duplicated and sold to multiple buyers?

I do not want to get ripped off.

I used them for an NBA game recently, but I purchased them myself through TicketMaster

I would NOT trust that they are not duplicates, as it is very simple to print additional copies.

I bought these once from ticketmaster, they emailed me a PDF file that had a barcode on it I printed it, and I got into the concert with no problems. They say the barcode will only work the first time it is scanned, so if copies are made, only the first person who uses it will get in. If it's a human being handing you an e-ticket I wouldn't trust it.

Yeah I agree with being careful. I have ordered tickets online before but I had them mailed to me priority with insurance. A reputable ticket handler will offer to snail mail them before the show, you can pay express or overnight shipping and get them in time, or simply get in on it early so they arrive before the show. If they don't offer to mail them, don't give them any credit card numbers.

The premium ticket websites are hella expensive but the best seats in the house...and available way after the venue is sold out. I got 2nd row center for James Taylor at 300 dollars for ONE ticket from a premium ticket place (encoretickets.com). Truthfully I don't know if these are legalized scalpers or not but you do what you have to do sometimes. My ticket was a Ticketmaster ticket priced at 80.00 and I paid a huge markup for it. I really wanted this ticket, I guess you can tell. It was a month of groceries for me.

Don't want to get into the ethics of all that, this is just to say...there are authentic tickets out there purchased electronically, including over the phone...you have to trust your gut, and research the people offering the product.

I used them before...but that's because i bought them myself though ticketmaster. If you dont trust the person, I suggest you dont do it cause they are easily duplicated..and if you decide to use them anyway and they do turn out to be duplicates, you can be prosecuted, not the person who sold them to you.
