1. Don't take offense at American humor, it can be quite crass.

2. Learn the English language at least remedially.

3. Sample the cuisine.

4. Don't draw attention to yourself with snazzy jewelry, etc.

5. Be Polite.

6. Know the area you are traveling in (type of people, etc.) and plan accordingly

7. Don't bash the president just because we do; show respect.

Don't judge the whole country by any one area or experience. There are so many diverse things to see and do. Take in all that you can, our country is beautiful, and you may travel about freely.

It's generally very safe (at least in my area - depends where you go however.....)

Stay away from weirdos and keep an eye on your valuables like you would anywhere in the world!

When you eat at restaurants, order whatever their special is. Like don't order a fish burger at a Chinese Restaurant. And don't order dim sum from a diner. Also, be nice. Here being nice gets you farther than being a yelly pants.

take a tour bus...don't become a crime victim..

stay away from the homesless
don't eat at greasy spoon dinners
keep your bill fold under cover...
don't talk to strangers offering free anythings
