My cat is the late stages of pregnancy and we've just noticed that she isn't putting any weight on her back, right leg. Does anyone know if this is the early stages of labour or do you think it's unrelated?

I imagine it is unrealted. When your cat is in labor you wont see her for a day or even two. They run away and hide from everyone. They do this cause they are looking for the perfect birthing spot. If you do see your cat when she is in labor she will just be laying there and panting really hard, and look spent. She wont eat the entire day, but you should provide a bowl of clean water to drink. And leave her be. They know what to do. But when the kitties are born you can be her assistant, with moving the kittens aside ( she might plop on them and kill them if she is too excausted) and clean their eyes and noses of the mucous. But dont get to involved, she might eat them or disown them all together.

I have no clue, and this is in no way rude, but this might be better posted under animals, I know there are quite a few vets that get on there and answer questons. I have had a couple questions answered there by vet technicians and vets themselves. Good luck though.

I would definitely have her checked out by a vet. Better safe than sorry she may have hurt her leg, something may be imbedded into a paw, or it could be pregnancy related. Good luck.

i have been present at the births of six litters of kittens and none of my cats have ever had this problem, so i would definately say she has probably hurt herself. keep an eye on her for a couple of days but if you are worried then you should get her checked out.

You'll know when she's about to give birth. She'll be looking for dark quiet places. Check there's nothing stuck in her paw. If it's clear then whoosh her to the vets.

i would ask this question in the cats section, or call a local vet. All of our cats are fixed so they can;t have any kittens.

Hmmm...I might want a veterinarian check her out...it wouldn't hurt to have someone look over her.
