Perhaps the alcohol lifts you to another dimension that you normally don't get to contact when sober. It's possible to reach that level through meditation or circle casting when sober, but I think that we do need to ground ourselves back to plain old reality from time to time. Reality is perhaps better if you have a gateway to other realms.
Sorry for being a bit heavy going. It's only my thoughts and what works for me. I do like a drink myself, but even more with friends.

lol. alcohol is also an excuse for everything an alcoholic does. but we all need to escape reality every once in a while.

This assertion might have offended me some years in the past. Now, it form of feels that any concepts-changing substance seems to be greater "certainty" than no longer. My husband became addicted to crack final twelve months, and his "certainty" makes him happier than I ever am.
