It depends partly on where you're from and what you're accustomed to. If you're from the UK, you might thing of temperatures below 40 F as cold (5C or so). Then again, if you have moved the the western US, where it's drier, 40 F can be quite comfortable compared to a damp 40 F.

Yes, just like there's "dry heat", there's "dry cold". And like dry heat, dry cold is much more tolerable (unless it's extremely cold) than the alternative.

Here's the easiest thing to do. Go to a discount store and buy a cheap thermometer that has fahrenheit on one side and celsius on the other. You can find the temperature that you read in the newspaper or see on TV and look on the other side of the thermometer to see what it says. You'll get used to it pretty soon, but this is a cheap and easy way to figure it out every day.

32 degrees Farenheit is freezing. Basically anything from 0 to about 45 degrees feels cold. 50-75ish is mild. 80 and higher feels warm and anything like 90 or above is REALLY hot. It also depends where you are because in places like Arizona, it can get up to over 100 degrees on a daily basis in the summer, so if you lived in a place like that, you would get used to the heat. Or if you live somewhere cold, you will get used to that too.

Just remember this:

0° Celsius = 32° Farenheit = freezing point of water

20° Celsius = 68° Farenheit = ideal summer indoor temperature

40° Celsius = 104° Farenheit = fever temperature

100° Celsius = 212° Farenheit = boiling point of water.

Every degree Celsius = 1.8 degree Farenheit, so that

F° = 1.8 C° + 32°
