If they were to make another movie, which present day actors do you think would best play- Dorothy, the tin man, the scarecrow, the lion, glenda, the wicked witch, and oz. I need it for a project.

I think the obvious choice of Dakota Fanning for Dorothy, if she can sing.
Tin Man would be Ewan McGregor
Scarecrow would be Ben Afleck
The Lion, okay don't dismiss it outright, Jack Black
Glenda, lets go with Cate Blanchett
Wicked Witch, how about Joan Cusak or maybe even Lindsey Lohan
And the wizard would have to be Johnny Depp
There are so many possibility's, these are just what come to mind now. Good question!!

wow...great question. Don't know if I have a really great answer, but let's give it a go...
Dakota Fanning for dorothy, the scarecrow maybe hugh jackman (he has some singing and dancing experience), the lion Nathen Lane (he has a lion sort of face, and smiles nicely), Glenda would be maybe Drew Barrymore. She is sweet and kind in real life, so she might make a lovely Glenda, The tin man -- now I would like to see Bruce Campbell in the role, but realistically it should be someone with a bit of dancing experience, so maybe either Antonio Bandaras or Richard Gere (I know they are older,but they know how to move musically so either of them would suit the role), the wicked witch...that is a tough one. Glenn Close did a nice job being cruella deville and she might make a good witch too. Need someone older for that part. Meryl Streep would fit the part too. Now for the mayor of oz and also the peddler at the begining of the movie (they have to be the same actor) Jim Carey would be good, Gene Wilder, or Steve Martin. Any of those guys could pull off the part easily.
Flying monkeys! At least one should be john leguizamo. He could be the monkey captain or something.

good answerrs (expect for first post moron) Dorthy will have to be young Dakota maybe, Natalie maybe, Jamie Lynn Spears some one in that age range. Tin Man Robin Williams Scarecrow Jim Carrey, Lion Eddie Murphy, Glenda Glenn Close, Wicked Witch Rozanne or Rosie, Oz several would be good here Christopher Llyod, William H Macy, Sam Neill, Tom Hanks justa guess though.

i think possibly Mandy Moore would make a good dorothy, and Robert Deniro would make a good lion or Wizard of Oz, the guy that played in Rocket man ( not sure what his name is though) would make a great scarecrow, glenda could be Susan Surandon ( i don't think i spelled her last name right) and as for the wicked witch....the woman that plays the principal in "Uncle Buck" would be a great wicked Witch....

miley cyrus or vanessa anne hudgens would be dorothy.....mitchell musso would be the scarecrow.....dave coulier would play the lion......im not quit sure who woud play the tin man...glenda would be kiera knightly and oz would be rondell sheridan and the wicked witch would have to be ahley tisdale srry i know shes really nice but i can see her on the roof u know in the woods with the evil trees?
