Hey, I played a lot of tennis in the summer with a hired coach and improved drastically in 4 months of time. Well I live in Seattle and the weather here is not that great so we canceled our lessons 'til the Spring and I haven't played tennis in about 5-6 months. Do you guys think I will have to go back to the basics? Or do you guys think my skills will come back to me once I warm up a little bit.

This happened to me before. Well DO NOT go back to the basics. Just countinue on where you left of and after maybe a week or so you will start getting back to your regular game.

Your first time out you will probably do very well because you will be concentrating so hard. The trouble starts after that the next few times when you let down your focus a bit which is normal. Your simpler strokes like your backhand and volley will get their timing back faster then your forehand and serve . The footwork of moving around the court will be a bit weird at first and your spacing between you and the ball. I would say a month tops to feel as good as you did if you work hard . From experience different then the weather , but injuries you can come back quick if your fundamentals are sound which they probably are considering you were taking lessons. Moving towards the ball and picking up where it is going of your opponents raquet are the two big ones to look out for.

Play 4 times a week and you will be back in shape in 3 weeks if you were good.

I play tennis also. You should rally against the wall or you can find a partner to rally with. That way, you won't get worse.
