Wear the pads with extra protection and wings. And stick with the smaller pads not those long thick ones. find a thinner one to conform to your body just for the class if you have heavy days. Also they have those really tiny teen tampons. if you are scared you could try those.
Just go to the bathroom halfway through to check your pad. I had this really terrible coach who wouldnt let girls run to the bathroom and i really had to go (to check). He said no and i just told him unless he wanted my to have an Aunt Flow accident and have my parents calling later he'd have to let me go. Never got questioned again.

Along with a few others, I pose the same question:
Why can't you wear tampons?
I know they're not for everyone, but if it's an old wive's tale that is keeping you from using them, banish those superstitions!

Wearing close fitting sports shorts and light napkin is ok. But what happens when you need a larger pad? Frankly, it looks a bit ... ah ... "packed"
Try the smaller light tampons, change them often, and believe me, you'll be a convert.

Why is this an issue? You wear a pad. If you're afraid that its going to fall out of your shorts, don't be. So long as your undies fit properly and it is attached right, you're fine. If you're still concerned, wear a pair of spandex shorts under your regular shorts. If you were on one of my teams or in the phys ed class of friends of mine, I'd tell you (and so would they) that you're just going to have to deal with it like everyone else and that the only way you're sitting out is with a doctor's note.

Exercise is HIGHLY beneficial when you're on your period.

Male or female, trust me if you're teacher is within 8 years of being out of school they know a LOT more about it than you do. There is no reason for you not to participate.

There is no reason to not participate in gym while you are menstruating. However, the showers can be an issue. Most schools have private showers for those menstruating. Don't be embarrassed to use them. WE ALL MENSTRUATE. It's no big deal, and if someone laughs, they are just being immature and they probably haven't started their own period yet. (Otherwise, she would sympathize).

Another option: We used to just keep our underwear on, wrap a towel around us and keep it one while we rinsed are arms, legs and washed our arm pits. You could try that.

Just don't be embarrassed. You may not do it now, but believe me, there will come a day when you and your girlfriends will openly discuss periods.

Well, if you're worried about your pad leaking. I'd make sure to change it on a regular basis. Maybe wear two pairs of shorts instead of one. First a pair of bikers shorts(snug fitting) and then a looser pair over them. And make sure they're not white!
So then, if you happen to leak it won't be noticeable.
