Isle of Man, 10% lower tier income tax, 12% higher rate. No Capital Gains Tax, No dreaded Inheritance Tax, 0% Corporation Tax, You only ever need one MOT Test and it is never required ever again unlike the mainland where they scam us into getting it every year. Low Crime, good schools, the TT Roadraces, The IOM Govt paying my university fees( this is not means tested everybody who has lived here for at least 5 years gets it). It's 16 to vote, 16 to drive, 18 to smoke, 18 to drink. Come over and visit, hell why not move over here. I moved from Manchester 5 years ago. As the person above says the IOM has the police force, good healthcare and you don't have to wait until you are dead for an operation. We do only have a population of 75,000 but I think thats a good thing.

Poll taxes are unconstitutional in the US.

As for a flat 10% income tax, most studies show that it will significantly reduce the tax burden for most people, while keeping roughly the same amount of money coming into the govt coffers (once the cost of the current system is eliminated).

The objection is that it would be a higher tax rate for the lowest income brackets, since it would be a flat tax with no exemptions or reductions.

10% of income tax for everybody would be lovely - except it lets the rich get richer, the poor get poorer (so more like 99% of wealth belonging to 1%), and you can say goodbye to anything the government pays for (healthcare, education, welfare, police, defence) as these things do tend to cost a fair bit!

Why have income tax at all?. Surely it would be fairer to lump V.A.T. up to say 25 per cent. That way, No need for tax evaders and all taxes are collected!

No, the income tax on the rich needs to be raised.
So does the capital gains tax.
So does the estate tax.
