Why don't conservatives educate our children? Didn't get very far in school?

Tax cuts for the very rich, no child left behind was a good idea until the Bush administration wouldn't fund it.

Unfortunately, in a capitalist system, big money flows where there is immediate profit to be made. Our teachers are under-funded. Our curriculum is determined through political pressure.

We need an educational system that emphasizes critical thinking and provides the education that is appropriate to each child. Many of our schools are big warehouses.

On the positive side, the federally funded "Job Corp" program has been able to turn around the lives of thousands of young adults. This program actually results in a "net profit" for society.

The problem lies in the early education, they are taking away recess and forcing children to sit in a chair stuffing info into their brain for no real reason,,,,, this over-teaching produces high schoolers that burn out,,,, we need to ease up on the elementary kids.... most of what we force into them at 5 could be learned in a few days at 8,,,

I must add that neglectful parents are also a part but not being the parents fault.... we have to work 70 hours a week to survive... between grocery shopping, driving and work,,,, we have no time for kids...... and the grandparents moved off to florida instead of raising the generation,,,,, it was a cultural collapse driven by some ruling elites design

Conservatives read books upside down like their Tsar. The American educational system is worse than a lot of third world countries. The Government believe an educated society is smart enough to see what's being done to them.

Because of bad parenting. Parents don't involve themselves in the education process. Parents don't set limits, let the brats run the streets, don't check homework, don't insist on good performance, don't care if the kids goes or not, don't know or care who they are hanging out with, don't give any encouragement. They don't teach their brats about consequences and, being uneducated themselves, don't talk to their brats about the value of an education and what loosers they will be without one.

There is no encouragment to strive for excellence.

Most kids take the easy way out. Why take physics if you can take chair-caning. Why finish high school when you can squeak by on vocational school. They are unmotivated.

Supply and demand. Men will become as educated as it takes to prosper economically. In America, not much education is required, just dedication. Keep in mind that even the least educated American will make 10 or 100 times more than the highest educated Mexican, African, or Czeck. Also keep in mind most of the genius is actually imported from the aforementioned nations, which saves us the trouble of educating our own. America's strength is not in its lower education systems but in its ability to draw the best and the brightest from around the world to its higher education systems and then offering post-educational opportunities.

It costs MONEY in other countries for children to attend school classes. That is why many in other countries are not educated because they cant afford to be. Here in the US general education is FREE but......we teach the basics to our children. In other countries, they are far more advanced in their teachings. American children go to school for like what, 6 hours where as in other countries they go to school for 8-10 hours.

The problem isn't that our education system is underfunded, or that our teachers are undereducated. Quite the opposite, our education system is very well funded and our teachers very educated. The problem is that children these days have a lack of respect for the education system and would rather be doing something else in their time. This is why we see so few children going on to college, lack of interest, and by the time they realize that their lack of interest has held them back in life, it is too late to do anything about it.

It starts at home. The law in this country, protects them so much, that parents are scared to raise them with manners.
We propably all got a spanking or two but now, it is forbidden. Parents just leave it up to the school system to educate them.

The best answer for this question will not be found on most education sites, will be totally overlooked by the general public, but please for the sake of everyone in this country, please read pretty much everything John Taylor Gatto ever wrote.

Our education system is doing exactly what it was created for, to make good, docile, and loyal workers. It was never meant to truly educate.
