I was due 'on' on the 24th of feb. I did a cheap home test after about a week which showed two lines , although one was ridiculously faint. I then did a docs test which came back negative. On friday i did another home test which said negative. Because i did this test in a public toilet i stuck it in my bag. Being a minger i forgot to chuck it and found it in my bag last night, and when i looked there was a very faint pink dot in the positive window. Im damn confused so any advice would be good.
Oh, i think i should add that im a mother of two, not a niave teen!!

Unfortunately I think you will have to take another test! The first test could have been faint and then the doctors one negative because the levels of pregnancy hormone in your body are very low at the moment if you are pregnant.
The third test could be correct but because of the time length left that the reading was taken from could make it inaccurate. Pregnancy tests have a required reading time (about 10-15min) and then after this you should disregard the result. This is because after left a while all tests can show a positive result but it is infact due to a 'evaporation line'. This is caused by the moisture which has passed through the test stick after being left sometime. That is why they advise you to disregard result after time recommended on packet as it may not be accurate.
Take another test (try clear blue or first response - they are more sensitive) or go to your local family planning clinic where a test is free and an appointment is sometimes uneccesary - and see what happens. If you have no luck but no period go back to your doctor and request a blood test. These are ultra sensitive and very accurate and will tell you one way or the other! Good luck, all the best x

You can't trust the result of a home test if you looked at the result after the time had elapsed. The pink dot is probably due to evaporation, and doesn't not prove that you are pregnant.
I think that if a doctors test and the second home test said negative, then you are not pregnant. But you might want to try a digital test.

To be sure go buy a clear blue (I think that's what it's called) and take it. If it comes back Positive then congrats or sorry I don't know whitch one to say. But if you have other syptems like nausea cravings and the test is still negative go talk to your doc becaus I had a friend that had all the signs (exept the test part), she wasn't pregnant she had some kind of infection so you need to go and ask your doc to check you out to make sure.

Even a faint line is a positive...it is possible to get a 'false' negative, but not a 'false' positive.

Regards the dr's test, my sil had this same problem and is now 6 months pregnant!

Regards the one in your bag, possibly a 'evapouration' line as it was in there a while.

I would suggest getting another cheap test like the first and do that...

Based on the info you've given though, I would say you are pregnant.

Good luck, let us know how it goes! :o)

I would take a HPT once more, make sure the instructions are fully read first.

You cant read a preg test after a certain amount of time, as it then goes to invalid.
You should get a 'real' result by now.

I've heard that it can take a while for a positive to show up because of the amount of pregnancy hormone produce.

Good luck, and hope you get what your looking for x

I would say do another hpt but get a digital one because then you don't have to try and decide if there is a line or not. Also; do another doctors test, your hormone levels might just be very low and so it doesn't show up as much and the doctors may have missed it because of this.

Good luck!

I would test again in a week.
Did you drink a lot of water/fluids before you took the test at the doctor's? I got a negative result at first until I insisted they check again. The hormones were very diluted. I'm 5 weeks pregnant!

Did the drs do a blood test??? I had a neg urine test at the ER With my last pregnancy. I had to demand A blood test. If i were you i wouldnt waste anymore money on the home tests. Sometimes your hormones arent strong enough for a pos result.

I would get a different brand pregnancy test, Sometimes you get what you pay for. If the result is still confusing, go to your GP and get him/her to do a pregnancy test or blood test. I think that way you can definitely be sure of the result. Good luck.

even a faint dot is positive
the best thing to do is leave it for a week and do another
positive results are a lot more accurate than negative ones so the docs one might be wrong
