Its not necessarily.
Studying Abroad just gives you a higher perpective of the world altogether. You become aware of another country, another culture - which might or might not be very different from your own. Studying abroad just widens your horizon and gives you the ability to appreciate another country.

It depends on what your major will be. If you want an international title with your degree (ie international relations BA) than you need to learn it in an international environment.

The point of education is to learn new things. Your limited in your education when you study at home. As the people there are mostly the same as you. Going abroad would allow you to learn from people unlike yourself.

you get a chance to experience a different lifestyle. you can brush up on your foreign language skills. after you go through such an experience you end up being more open minded, find yourself more tolerant to other points of view that arose from a different type of life experience. you also learn to manage yourself better, learn how it is to start fresh, learn to make friends fast and basically, truly stand on your own two feet, since there will be no one there to hold your hand through the process. you end up being stronger and more independent. plus, you will be more valuable to the companies that want to hire you, since not many candidats have this type of experience on their resume.
