Leif Erickson or Eriksson was son of Eric the Red, a Vikinf or Norseman who was one of the first to discover America. He know he landed on Greenland and there was a settlement there. He set sail and what the maps tell us discovered part of the upper Eastern coast like Newfoundland , Nova Scotia, and possibly Martha'sVineyard ,naming the country Vinland.
