My stepdad do not agree on politics, that is fine, I have told him lets not talk about it to avoid arguements. But like most Democrats they are always desperaately pleading their case and in an obnoxious way. I get so many emails from him that were sent to him by the Democratic party. He is big time into this. I ignore them but am tired of him ignoring my request to hush about it. MY OPINION is Democrats make noise and Republicans make history. Can you suggest something I could forward him to shut him up or make him so mad he won,t even talk to me until Christmas? Something TRUE with backing of course. I hate to do it but enough already!!!

Unfortunately he seems like a hard headed rude liberal that could care less about your thoughts or feelings.

If all else fails, tell him it's apparent that liberalism has turned his brain to mush and can't make rational decisions so therefore you'll have to block his emails so they will automatically go into the trash pile, for exactly that's what it is...trash.

Good luck, but if you live there and he has any control over you, be careful. Tell him it's mental abuse ;-)

It's sad for some of these answers. It's apparent this man will not leave you alone and they are advocating not holding him accountable. To admit you're a liberal just to appease him? He is a grown man, unfortunately a bully liberal man, but he has overstepped his boundaries. The insults on you from some are just pure ignorance and childish, please excuse them for they are liberal and when someone who is not a liberal speaks, expect that type of ignorant insults.

The political dispute is probably the locus of a personal dislike too.

This isn't surprising: people of the left often are personally unpleasant: smug, self righteous, pity-ridden and sly.

I advise you to simply have all his emails automatically junked, and if he brings up the subject in person, to state plainy tjhat you've no interest in discussing it further, and the change the subject to sport or cinema.

Wow, I could have written that question. But first I have to disagree with your comment about repubs making history and dems making noise. Both parties have had their share of history makers and frankly the history this prez is making is not a good legacy. Back to your question....

I'm a dem and so is my father-in-law. But I tend to be right of center on many things and left of center on others (I'm probably closer to a liberatarian). He tends to be fairly left on many things. He also makes all sorts of comments on things that I disagree with. Nobody in the family will debate him as it usually turns ugly if you disagree. I've been painted as the bad guy several times.

Question is, are you willing to deal with the fall-out of putting him in his place? If not, just ignore him. Its not worth the aggrevation of both of you getting torqued over a political discussion.

I am sure you have pointed out to him we haven't had any attacks on us soil since 9/11. That with Bill Clinton they we were attacked over and over. I would suggest listen to Rush. He has some grate points with dealing with the miss guided libs. And remember they are angry over losing 2 elections to GW and really are not thinking clearly. Smile a lot when you are confronted with the taking points. Don't get mad!!!

Tell him if he wants to discuss politics so much you should both listen to the Rush Limbaugh program and then you can discuss what was on the program.

Democrats usullay can't listen to dissenting opinions very long.

I think that you could just tell him you are now a Democrat. That will shut him up. And what's a little white lie, if it brings family peace?

If you are opposed to little white lies, as I tend to be, then you could simply tell him that if he doesn't leave you alone, you will tell your mother about the porn.

You will never convince him...Live with it. My Mom and I disagreed on all things political till the day she died.....There was no winning with her.just an obnoxious argument. She was a good little Liberal, following the rest of the sheep

Good Luck

Send him an article about Rudy marrying his cousin, or Newt cheating on his wife while she was dying, or about the way that the FBI has been spying on Americans, and then explain to him how the Republican party is morally superior to the Dems...Hope this helps.
