What are some similarities between the end of WWII and the Korean War or the beginning of the cold war?

End of WWII as in Berlin and the cold war as in the Korean war...I think...if memory serves me right

Let's see, I'm going to try and explain the question some.

Bascially were there any similarites in terms of democracy and communism; the way the two scenes played out between the major sides.

That's the best I can do for now, I'll try and add a little more elboration later on once I think of a better way to explain it.
