I don't know about 50%, but yes, many women defecate & urinate (poo & wee? what are you, 5?) duing childbirth. Think how well you'd control everything down there when squeezing a golf ball out of your urethra.

50% no. I don't know the percentage, but most women do have a bowel movement when they go into labor. In my pre-natal class, the nurse says that when the baby is coming out it pushes on your bowels and causing you to go to the bathroom. Some women ask for an enima when they get there to clean themselves out before hand so their bowels will be empty. They said its not embarrassing at all and that so many women do it, it's a common thing. The nurses don't even say anything and they usually clean it up before anyone even notices. Most mom's don't even know that they did it.

I have never heard of a mom urinating during labor.

i dont know about 50% but a lot of women do because that is how you push the baby out, you push like you are trying to have a bowel movement. as for peeing, i had a catheter put in because once they gave me the epidural i wasnt allowed to get up.

I don't know about percentages but it happens sometimes. I had 4 kids with no enemas with any of them and I had a tiny bowel movement with only one of them. It's no big deal, it's a natural thing that everyone does. And the doctors have seen it all.

Yes.. and even with an enema it still happens because we are pushing with everything we have to get the baby out. It is uncontrollable.
