is it true that dust is really dead skin cells??

Yep. Think of all the dead people you pick up when you do the dusting ! XP! On the other hand, some of it's probably Shakespeare or Elvis, so it's not that bad. It's just one disgusting fact we could all do without knowing, a bit like the blissful ignorance of not knowing that when we smell something it's actually bits of it going up our nose, inside our body, and ultimately to the same place that food goes... :S

Yes, but not as other people have answered "dead peoples skin". It is mainly made up of the skin of people who inhabit the place where the dust is. We shed skin continually, losing it mostly when we brush against things / remove clothing etc. When they opened Tutankhamen's tomb, there was very little dust, despite the tomb having lain for over 3000 years. This was because there was no human activity in that time to produce dust.
