I don't think I'd be able to do my job - information & referral for health, family, and social services. A lot of people in Milwaukee would have to go without the help they needed for the day - food, shelter, doctors, AODA, utility issues, landlord/tenant disputes. I mean, if the phones actually worked, we'd be able to log calls on paper, but finding referrals would be a pain.

Honestly, though, I think it would be wonderful if everything, and I mean EVERYTHING (internet, phone, television, anything electronic), went offline for a day. In such a case, we, as human beings, may be properly motivated to get off our dead a$$es and actually commune with one another instead of interfacing with machines all day. Maybe we would all reconnect with ourselves, with humanity, and with the world, in general.

Yeah. That would be pretty cool.

And personally, I would thoroughly enjoy the silence generated by my telephone NOT ringing, the television NOT droning, the radio NOT blasting. Rather, I'd bask in the glorious and natural sounds of birds and breeze and the dripping of melting snow. I would not miss the electric buzz that surrounds me most of the time. Instead, I'd hear, taste, and feel the energy of the cosmic buzz.

Most will just put everything on 'hold' this it's back on line. Even putting gas in you car would have to wait, grocery store's would find out which employee's really know how to make change. People would be forced to talk to each other, no phones, television, radio. Some would find out they can't feed themselves without taking a pot out of a cupboard. People would have to walk up and down stairs because elevators run by electricity, and so do water pumps that flush the toilet.

I could cope very well. In fact, I'm moving in a few days and will be without an internet connection for several days.

During the first 12 hours, there will be chaos.
During the last 12, hours, there will be enlightenment.
The next day, there will be confusion.
Everything that day will be the same as two days before.

Electronic gridlock, the likes of which we have never seen, although I am sure there would be several back up systems for critical operations, the net result would be a near disaster.

A bad day for organ recipient hopefuls.

A great day for those who think we need to take a nice long break and unplug for awhile.

A stressful day for type A's who can't stand to not be working for every second.

It might leave us open for a terrorist attack..but knowing that national security allows for such an event- if we were prepared , it might just allow people to kick back and enjoy the silence ..
