Everyone, including the jury, knew Libby was the fall guy for Cheney and Rove.

Do you believe Libby was promised a pardon if he just kept his mouth shut?

Last question first, Libby kept his trap shut like a true neo-con, he will be rewarded with a pardon. There is not enough evidence to bring Rove and Dead Eye Dick to trial, so there will be no justice. I think that is why the prosecutor is in a position to do nothing.

Libby can't be the "fall guy" for anyone else. He wasn't charged with leaking classified information. He was charged with not telling the truth.

He either did or did not tell the truth. It's not like someone else was sitting in his body, and he's being blamed because it was really someone else talking who just looked a lot like him.

Now, whether Cheney and Rove and others are liable for revealing classified information is a different prosecution. And that would require the appointment of a different special prosecutor, and the filing of a separate set of indictments.

Unlike that $60 million "investigation" from Starr about a stained blue party dress, Fitzgerald has an extraordinary reputation as a prosecutor -- he plays no sides, apparently. I don't think there's anything bogus about his not pursuing Cheney; I think he pursues the evidence of the crime, and prosecutes.

And yes, I do believe Libby will get a pass from Bush.

Do you believe in the Rule of Law?

The Special Prosecutor was unable to secure "evidence" to support exactly the claims that you are making. By his own admittance, he tried. He went so far as to indicate that the only reason he charged Libby was because of his frustration at not being able to get at Cheney and Rove.

In any event, at this point, Fitzgerald has closed the investigation.

Fitzgerald has a record for conviction. He will not bring charges unless he had evidence certain to convict.

Plame has a civil suit working it's way through the courts. It names Cheney, Rove, Libby and Armitage. Perhaps more evidence will come from that trial that will re-open the criminal investigation.

There is no evidence to prosecute. I guess they could start a witch hunt... er... special investigation again. That got them Libby, even though they had nothing on him from the original charges.

Libby attorneys didn't get the message if he did. They put up a lot of smoke in various different directions towards administration.

Why isn't the Special Prosecutor going after Hadley? He's the one who leaked Plame's identity; he's the one who committed the crime.

My feeling is that in order to get a conviction for leaking id on a covert agent, they would have to prove that Plame was, in fact, a covert agent. But, they know that the CIA will not testify on that matter, citing national security. So any indictment is doomed to fail to get a conviction.
