also,when it's jump started it starts right up,but other than that it makes a clicking sound in little black box by battery,i charged the battery but it still has to be jumped to start

Twice in your question you mentioned jump start.
The battery is probably junk. Buy a new one, or take it to a shop to be "load tested". A battery can have 12v when checked with a meter, but have zero cranking amps.

each bike I even have seen and ridden has a lock nut and screw (actual this is a factor of the grab cable sheath) on the grab cable, loosen the locking nut and alter the screw. as quickly as you have adjusted the grab to what you like, tighten the locking nut.
