Canada--too cold to be paying so much in taxes.
USA--(Home)
Mexico--If I'm going to be that hot, I might as well be somewhere more exotic.
Brazil--If I could escape the cities and crime, sounds like a great place to me. Still wouldn't care for the heat.
England--No problem; easy to adjust to, though I'd be afraid of it being annoyingly pompous. Unfair stereotype? Maybe.
France--Only outside of Paris, If what I've heard is true about attitudes. I'd have to learn some French real quick to fit in.
Germany--I think this is one place I could do real well in, ultimately.
Italy--I have almost nothing in common with this culture and I'm afraid I'd never feel at home.
Russia--See Canada; now add a language I don't get.
Egypt--The toughest part would be being a religious minority in a muslim, albeit generally religiously free, country. Too hot AND dry.
Ethiopia--Only in the city; I would really struggle in rural 3rd world life.
South Africa--Considering its recent, dicey history of interracial relations, I wouldn't quite feel right maybe. I'd like to see how things have improved first. It's the same reason I'd be uncomfortable in Mississippi.
Japan--Fascinating, but another country where I find little in common with the culture. Too homogenous to get along easily as a minority.
China--I cannot live in a place permanently where I don't have a right to speak my mind publicly unless I were on a mission of any sort. Would love to visit, though.
India--Too crowded, hot, and different for my tastes.
Australia--Easy transition from the Western U.S.

Of course, I'd love to VISIT any and all of these. But the questionasked about living there. I didn't mean to come off terribly negative, regardless.

[Canada]

- I already live here. It's nice. Weather is slightly crappy but I suppose it could be worse.

[USA]

- I would hate to live in the States. First of all, it is not much different from Canada so why move? Second of all, I am not a big fan of Bush. The government in general is too corrupt for me to live here.

[Mexico]

- The metropolitan area is hugely crowded and the rest of the people are really poor. The weather is really hot, too hot for my tastes. On the plus side, it would be awesome to live close to some of the most amazing historical sites in the entire world.

[Brazil]

- Also has crowded metropolitan areas, along with incredibly high crime rates. Not my idea of a nice place to live in. However, the food is good, as is the scenery. If I could ensure that I would not live in poverty, I would love to live in a home somewhere out in the country.

[England]

- Nice scenery and history. Isn't as Americanized as Canada. What's not to like? Well, save for the rainy weather. I would love to live in England, especially if I could ensure myself a good job with a high income. (Prices are slightly high.)

[France]

- I would die to live in France. Good food, fashion, great scenery, rich in culture, soaked in history, superb wine. Everything I want in a country about the size of Ontario. Perfect. Plus I could visit the rest of Europe with some ease. I wouldn't care if I was rich or poor, so long as I was living in France.

[Germany]

- The people are polite but that's about as nice as they go. I wouldn't mind living in Germany - it wouldn't be much different than living in France. Only Germany is slightly less "exotic" compared to France.

[Italy]

- Even better food than France, the capital of fashion, breath-taking scenery, friendly people, more history than any other country, a colourful language. Italy is my dream country. I love it even more than France. If I could live in Italy, I would pick a small little town near the coastline.

[Russia]

- I'd imagine they have some of the fiercest winters ever. Not my cup of tea.

[Egypt]

- Hmm, as a woman, I would not like to live in a mostly Muslim country. I do not fancy covering up when it is 40 degrees Celsius.

[Ethiopia + South Africa]

- Unfortunately, I do not know enough about these countries to make a fair judgment.

[Japan]

- From what I hear, they are strongly influenced by the United States. Tokyo is one of the most populated cities in the world and it is also one of the most expensive. Japan also has a high population but a small land mass. That means it is extremely crowded, more than Brazil and Mexico. I like my personal space.

[China]

- Well, their rivers and lakes are extremely polluted and they do not have enough clean water for their mind-bogglingly high population. Plus, it's government is restrictive. No thanks.

[India]

- Once again, I do not know enough to make a fair judgment.

[Australia]

- The winters are during June-August and summer is Dec-Feb. I don't think I could ever get used to that. I'd be incredibly confused, 24-7. Plus the toilet flushes the other way. More confusion.
