The colour of your eyes depends on a pigment called melanin. Those with brown eyes have alot of melanin in their eyes, those with blue have a lack of melanin there. As we get older, we tend to have less melanin in our bodies. It seems quite complicated, but I think that it's less to do with our bodies not producing as much melanin, and more to do with it being broken down more quickly. We have other pigments, such as lipofuscin, which is basically the waste from our bodies breaking down old blood cells (apparently this is where ear wax gets its colour?). As such, the granules containing lipofuscin also contain enzymes which will digest the melanin. As we age, we produce more lipofuscin (age spots etc are a product of this) which keeps destroying melanin. This breakdown will result in the eyes appearing paler.

The pupils never change color. They are black. It is the hole in the center of your eye. The colored part is the iris.
If his irises are blue, they are probably cataracts, an eye disease that happens in some eldery people. Your grandpa knows if he has eye problems, ask him and he'll tell you. If he says he doesn't, they are probably colored contacts.

The human eye doesn't change color. Those people that say thier eyes change color with their mood are lying to you. That's ridiculous. Your eyes stay the same.
